Privacy Policy
Tabbykeeps homeschool records for your family. That means you trust us with information about your kids, and we treat that as the whole ballgame. This page says what we collect, what we do with it, and what we will never do — in plain words, because you should not need a lawyer to understand what happens to your family's data.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address.
- Your homeschool records: your students' first names (or nicknames), grade levels, subjects and curricula, and the notes you write about what they did. We deliberately do not ask for and do not want birthdates, last names, or photos of your children.
- Your check-in notes: the plain-language notes you type in the app. We keep the original text so your records are auditable, and you can erase all of it at any time.
What we do with it
One thing: turn your notes into your family's records — attendance, activity log, gradebook, work samples, and reports. Your notes are processed by a language-model service to classify them into records. At launch this processing runs on US-hosted providers under agreements that prohibit training on your data. We log which provider processed each note so we can always answer "who saw this?"
Photos and scans of schoolwork are read the same way. When you attach a worksheet or a scanned page, a copy of that image is sent to a language-model service so it can write the record — US-hosted, no-training providers, logged the same way. The original file stays in private, US-region storage and is never public. An image may be seen by twosuch services rather than one: some handwriting — decorative lettering on a whiteboard especially — is read far more accurately by a second model, so a photo may first be transcribed by one and then turned into a record by another. Your typed notes are never sent to the transcribing one. We log both, per image, so "who saw this?" still has a complete answer. Work you attach is meant to be the work itself; if a page happens to carry your child's name in their own handwriting, that name travels with the image, which is worth knowing before you photograph a stack of it.
What we never do
- We never sell your data or your kids' data. To anyone. Ever.
- We never use your family's data to train AI models, and our providers may not either.
- We never show ads or share your data with advertisers.
- We never collect information from your children directly — you write the notes; the account is yours.
Where it lives
Your data is stored in US-region databases, encrypted at rest and in transit. Sign-in is handled by Clerk (our authentication provider), which processes data only to provide the service.

From Family → Settings you can download everything we hold about your family (full JSON export plus a CSV of your activity log) or delete everything permanently — every record, every note, and your login, gone from our systems. No email, no waiting period, no retention copy.
